Wobgho.com

At this stage, wobgho.com is a prototype. It includes 3 applications that can be used through a single sign-on.

• Registration:
  At wobgho.com, a user has to be registered. It's an easy process but at this stage, only the administrator can register new users: you can request a userid and password by sending an email at register@wobgho.com.
  Registered users can manage their own accounts or, if they are created as "managers", a group of users (a standard user can be upgraded to manager).
• Wobgho Markets
  The main application: it's a "C2B" (customer to business) concept. The idea is that many B2B tools should also by used by individual customers.
  At this stage, only a few functions (that will be used by future fonctions) have been implemented:
  • Mailings: emails can be defined (sending a web page is easy), receivers lists can be created (upload from CSV files), sent emails can be monitored (using te counters technology)
  • Counters: adding counters to a web page is made easy, information about people who browse pages is made available (browser, referer, country). Users can subscribe to daily alerts to receive a status of their counters.
• Timetable
  Originally, the "Timetable" application was just a training project. With 3 kids at home, and at school in the French system, it became almost impossible to know when to wake them up every morning. This is why this Timetable was built.
• Dashboard
  The dashbord is not really an application (that's why it's 3, not 4). The dashboard allows Wobgho applications to send messages to users and allow users to post messages to each other.

All wobgho applications are multilangual. Currently, English and French are available: the application detects the browser language settings and displays content accordingly. For emails and other messages, a user can set a language preference.

Technical considerations

• Performance:
  Wobgho.com runs on an outdated computer (an old Pentium II 233Mhz, with 128M). It's connected to the internet through an ADSL (512K) connection. Definitely a prototype!
• Security:
  The applications use a basic authentication, not the most secure solution but good enough for a prototype.
• Software infrastruture:
  Wobgho.com applications are built with open-source sofwares:
  • Apache is the web server
  • Jboss (with embedded Tomcat) is the J2EE application server
  • James is the mail server
  • mySQL is the database
• Browser:
  Wobgho applications are not expected to work with all versions of all browsers. It's a prototype: IE 6 is supported, Netscape 7 users should not encounter problems. IE 5.0 is not supported, using Netscape version prior to 7 may result in unexpected results.
• Mailer:
  Wobgho applications send emails in HTML and text format. However, proprietary format (such as AOL) are not supported at this point. Again, it's a prototype.
